Canadian Made Unfitted Cottage-Style Kitchens

For a clearer and larger photo, please click on the image.

When homeowners Rory and Maggie Daly came to us for custom cabinets, we were delighted.  At Wesley Ellen Design & Millwork, we love the casual unfitted English cottage-style look and so it's not surprising that this has been one of our favorite projects.

The timeless design and simplicity of this style is also seen in our own 'Cottage Collection' catalog. You can see examples of this in our earlier blogs or by visiting us at www.wesleyellen.ca. To receive your own PDF catalog, please email us at ron@wesleyellen.ca

The wood counter-tops are solid laminated beech and the black counter-tops, on either side of the range, are soapstone.

Contemporary American Colonial Home

For me, this is a 'surprise and delight' kitchen.  The kitchen in this American colonial has mahogany counters, a table on casters, and chairs designed by by Arne Jacobsen.

Gray Transitional Kitchen with Open Shelving

Source: flickr.com via Michelle on Pinterest

This is a great example on how to create a transitional space by mixing traditionally built cabinets with contemporary design elements.  The face-framed cabinets with inset doors and drawer-fronts provide the traditional elements; the light fixtures, the industrial steel island, the open white upper shelves and of course the gray painted cabinets, provide the contemporary elements.  And together they all come together to a great look!

Gray Traditional Cabinets

Another Beautiful Gray Kitchen

Somehow painting the cabinets gray, makes this kitchen feel more contemporary, even if it has a porcelain apron-front sink. The thin marble counter and white tile back-splash give it a very clean inviting feel.

Slate Gray Transitional Kitchen

No doubt you have noticed that gray painted kitchens are in vogue.  What makes this a transitional kitchen rather than traditional?  I'll say it's the  stainless steel apron-front sink and dishwasher front and sleek quartz counter-top.
